My Friend And The Ink On His Fingers

One of the best records of the past five years is from a band from Sweden called the Shout Out Louds. The record is called Howl Howl Gaff Gaff and it came out in the US in May 2005.

Howl Howl Gaff Gaff is some kind of compilation record, Wikipedia says it’s "A collection of songs from all our Scandinavian releases. Everything from plastic to vinyl."

There was a scandinavian release of Howl Howl Gaff Gaff in 2003 that I don’t have and never paid to much attention to. But the other day I was listening to some online music service (I listen to so many of them these days, I can’t honestly recall which) and came across a song that I recognized instantly as Shout Out Louds. I’d never heard it before. And I must have listened to it twenty times in the past couple days. It’s from the scandinavian release of Howl Howl Gaff Gaff and it’s called My Friend And The Ink On His Fingers. Enjoy.

You should be able to tag an mp3 on the internet and have that happen automagicallyI do it with delicious and a feed. It works great but its too geeky for mainstream useFred

The cool thing about what you’re doing is that it harkens back to the early days of progressive radio, when DJ’s were able to play anything they wanted. Basically, you found a person that had similar musical tastes, and they turned you on to great new (and old) stuff. It’s frustrating– I know that there’s great music out there, but I just don’t have the time to got out and look for it. With the “corporatization” of main stream radio, I think it would be interesting to find a way to present the musical suggestions of a manageable number of “Neo DJ’s”.
