Donors Choose - We Did It Again

For the second year in a row, this blog community won the tech category of the Donors Choose Blogger Challenge. I want to thank everyone who participated, there were 80 of you in all.  Here’s the comparison to last year:

So we did not quite achieve my goal of beating last year, except in students reached. I realize that we are in a difficult economic environment and I am sure that had an impact.

But speaking of impact, we should all be proud of what this community has done in the month of October. We have impacted the lives of 4,545 kids, most of them in the neediest schools. We have bought projectors, calculators, printers, cameras, books, trumpets, and many other important learning tools for them. Some of those kids will take a lesson taught with these tools and go somewhere with it. After all, education is the greatest gift you can give a child. And we’ve done that in spades. Thanks.

The number of donors is as impressive as the amount given, particularly when compared to the other blogs. You said in another post you thought that was because this blog has a real community, and I think you’re right.

Thanks, Fred! We’re actually donating Facebook consulting to a good cause every month, so if you have any other causes you like to suggest, I’m always looking… last month I gave a page & training to http://www.29gifts.org while I was participating in their 29-Day Giving Challenge – it was so much fun!
