The HP Match

I got some great news about the Donors Choose Campaign we are running this month here at AVC.

HP will match every dollar we donate in this campaign. They did that last year as well so this is two years in a row that we've been able to leverage HP's generosity for the benefit of teachers and students.

It's a good opportunity to remind everyone that we are focusing this year's Donors Choose campaign on math and science education for young women.

And finally, I'd like to remind everyone that all contributors to this Donors Choose campaign will be invited to a Meetup I am hosting in NYC on the evening of December 8th. Here's the giving page if you want to make a donation and come to the meetup.

I hope we can get a representative from HP to attend the Meetup.

Looking forward to the meetup. Aside from the donation part, the best part is meeting some of the AVC members face to face. Hey Fred, I’m an ex-HP’er of 14 yrs, so does that count for something.

If HP doesn’t send a Rep, you can play that role

December 8th…if it wasn’t a Wednesday, I would consider flying out.

The post is proof that HP gets the new media landscape.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were trying to get me to bring a bottle of pappy.

Mad props Fred.I love it every time I see how celebrities in the tech industry do more than try to become titans of the business world, and try to help others. Props!http://tech.rawsignal.com

I donated to a school in Chicago, and remembered when I was a teacher for a Ninth Grade English class in Virginia. Great idea, Fred.

This may be a silly question…maybe someone else wonders this…does the invitation find us (by email address?) even if we donated under a pseudonym? Probably won’t be there on the 8th but at least want the opp. Especially if Andy brings pappy. As suggested below. ;-)Edit: Figured out the answer to this.

Great performance at the Web 2.0 Summit, Fred. Although I could smell some collusion. 🙂

Are you calling me out? 😉 Let me look into booking a flight out there. And I’ll see if I can bring some other HP folk, too.BTW I wrote about your “Fragmentation” post earlier today and used the graphic from your post on the HP blog: http://h30507.www3.hp.com/t… …hope that is cool. Thanks for the kind words. Donating now on behalf of myself and @ScotterC. This is a great campaign you run Fred. I gave some Donor’s Choose donations as Christmas gifts last year to positive reactions. May bring it back this year.

I think not many.I met few schools management guys in this part of the world… they were all interested but the teachers”ha… one more material to understand and explain…please … we are already over loaded”I think it is mostly individual parents and students who are more inclined who wants to learn basic math and science..
