Abseiling

Hpim1374_1 Abseiling is the south african term for repelling.

We hiked to the cliffs at the heads of Knysna lagoon to abseil.

Jessica and the Gotham Gal were the only ones to get up the nerve to do it.

The cliff was 55 meters straight down. I have an issue with heights and wasn’t up to the task.

Hpim1359 Jessica went first and immediately got flipped upside down with her feet above her head.

The guide had a second rope on her and tied her down and helped her get righted.

After that she was fine and made it down the rest of the way just fine.

That about killed it for Josh and Emily who weren’t so excited about the idea to begin with.

Hpim1367 But the Gotham Gal was game and went for it.

Her technique was perfect and she got down quickly.

She said the hike back up was the hardest part of the whole deal.

Hpim1373 Jessica was pooped after the hike back up, but also thrilled to have done it.

Even though only two of the family ended up doing it, the hike up the cliffs was amazing and the views were incredible.

It’s a great way to see the heads of Kynsna and a thrill for those who enjoy that kind of thing.
