I am really excited about the upcoming Belle and Sebastian tour, including two nights in NYC at the Nokia Theater in early March.  Thanks to my friend Mark, The Gotham Gal and I are going on March 2nd.

I’ve been going back and listening to all of their older records and we have all of them, including the EPs.

The one that stands out is If You’re Feeling Sinister, released in 1997.  This is a fantastic record.

Belle and Sebastian aren’t easy to categorize.  I feel that they are a bit like Simon and Garfunkle mixed with the Smiths and a little early Pink Floyd thrown in.

Their songs are witty, poppy, and very catchy.  This record has some gems, like Fox In The Snow, Like Dylan In The Movies, Judy and The Dream of Horses, the title track, and my favorite, Get Me Away From Here, I’m Dying.  If you click on that link, you’ll get to a MP3 of the Week post I did last year and you can listen to Get Me Away From Here.

Bottom line – this is a fantastic record.  If you like this kind of music and don’t have it, you should change that.
