Political Posts and the Nasty Tone

From time to time, I post about political things on this blog.

As my mantra used to say, this blog represents my thoughts and nobody else’s but I am always interested in other’s thoughts.

Yesterday I posted about Massachusetts’ efforts to create universal health care coverage and said that, "I am not an expert on this stuff, but this middle of the road approach sounds good to me."

I got a bunch of comments, many of them informative, but also many of them with a nasty tone.

Why must people get nasty when it comes to political discussion?  If you think the Massachusetts legislation is bad, please say so on this blog and elsewhere.  We need that kind of debate.

But please leave the attitude out of it.
