Nuggets
Our soundtrack to the summer of 1999 was dominated by two "project" records, Bicycle which was my Nuggets pick last fall, and Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too by The New Radicals (which is really just Gregg Alexander). Neither "band" ever put out another record. But these are both great records.
Many people will recognize the single from the New Radicals record, called You Get What You Give. In fact the inspiration for this post came from Chartreuse who posted the video to that song on his blog earlier this week. I played it twice and it brought back a ton of memories from that summer 7 years ago. And right then, I decided this record would be the Nuggets pick this week.
This is a pop record with a lot of funk and soul influences. The closest thing might be The Style Council. As good as the single is, I actually like a bunch of songs on this record better.
