That Dylan/Johnny Cash video got me in a Dylan mood today and I went for the vinyl and came up with John Wesley Harding, Dylan’s first of three "country records".
I love John Wesley Harding, it’s such a great listen. I love the way the harmonica is front and center on this record. Of course, the harmonica intro to All Along The Watchtower is a classic. But what you get when you listen to John Wesley Harding is the harmonica ending to I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine followed by the harmonica intro to Watchtower. I love that part of the record because you get The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest next. Any Dylan song that starts with "The Ballad Of" is a great song in my book.
The second side of this record is not as strong as the first, but the last song on the record is the best, I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight. And of course, the harmonica solo at the end of the song is fantastic. If you like harmonica, get this record.
