I’ve been a fan of business models that start with free. I have found that is the best way to build a significant uptake on the web. That doesn’t mean you’ll never have any revenues. There are many ways to get paid for a web service that is free for everyone to use.

The biggest gap in any venture is that
between a service that is free and one that costs a penny. I can’t
think of a single premium service that has achieved truly viral
