The Singer Songwriter Is Alive And Well
One of the many things I love about living in NYC is that on any night of the week you can see great musicians performing live. The past two nights, the Gotham Gal and I did just that.
On Monday night, we saw Conor Oberst and his band Bright Eyes at Radio City. That’s such a great venue for a show.
I posted on it at fredwilson.vc and the Gotham Gal posted her thoughts too.
Here’s a link to Conor’s song Lua which he played with James Felice on Monday night.
Last night we went to the Blender Theater with the whole family to see Ben Lee.
I posted about the show on Newcritics.
Ben’s new record, Ripe, is terrific, and here’s a song from that record called What Would Jay-Z Do?

Fred,If you like these guys, you may want to check out Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers (www.stephenkellogg.com). They are excellent songwriters, but what really stands out is their live shows. They are headlining at the Beacon Theater on Saturday night and I think tickets are still available.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll check then outFred
yes !
I’ve been on a big Ben Lee kick myself lately and am also enjoying Ripe. Some other interesting links to check out:Ben Lee recently covered the entire album by “Against Me!” and made it available for free:http://blog.myspace.com/ind…I thought that was a cool story and right up your alley. Also, he did a great 4 song set on The Interface here:http://www.spinner.com/2007…

Nice to hear about the musicians from you. Well I have come to boston few months ago and still haven’t seen in day time! Just gone out for night parties and too very rarely 🙁 But now I think I should try to get a night out especially for some concert.Happy thanksgiving, well I need to sleep now 😉 so that I become fresh by afternoon to visit my friends house for eating!
Fred,if you have a minute, have a look at these two singersongwriters, one Irish, one Australian; you may have heard of them, particularly Damien Rice. And keep up the good blogging work.http://www.bernardfanning.com/ ; http://www.myspace.com/bern…http://www.damienrice.com/ThanksJimmy
