We Are Hiring At Union Square Ventures
We've got a post up on the Union Square Ventures blog explaining our hiring plans. We are looking for two people who want to spend the next two years at our firm. One will be an analyst position and requires no previous work experience but very strong quantitative skills. The other will be the General Manager of the Union Square Ventures Network. This requires a person with strong interpersonal and operating skills and some work experience where they have been demonstrated.
If you are interested in either position, please go read the blog post and follow the instructions at the end.

The GM position looks like a great role, just called it an “intra-portfolio Evangelist” over on my Tumblr.

I am applying: http://goo.gl/fb/dkouZ
that is one hell of a blog post paramendrayou did also fill out a jobscore, right?
Oh hi Fred. Only now seeing this. Yes, of course. I did do the jobscore thing. This blog post is my cover letter. I really, really want to get this position, the first real job of my life.
wow
You are impressed with what I bring to the table, eh? Thanks a bunch. So kind of you.
This is pretty exciting. Would you be open to accepting an intern this summer? I’m looking for a for-credit internship this summer to complete my undergraduate degree.
i don’t think that’s a good ideawe will have our hands full with getting our two new hires on board
Good to hear. I want to apply for the analyst position but I don’t think I’m the right fit for your needs. If anything I’d be interested to hear feedback on how I can improve my business profile. Also: Thank you for your blog Fred. I read every update and appreciate your insights into the technology world. I hope the hires found continue the growth of Union Square and its quest to find and improve upon technology start-ups. I don’t know what I’d do without Boxee.
Very cool. Can I have both?Just kidding. But both are appealing, and the company more so.Good luck in the hiring. As you know, the people make the company and one bad hire can be a major drain on morale and resources.
How much does the Investment Analyze deal/interact with founders of potential investments compared to you and your partners? Maybe I understand the position wrong.
the investment analyst position will be the most inwardly focused in ourfirm
Hi Fred,Are you open to applicants from your portfolio companies? I work at one now, but I am very interested in the Analyst position.
wow, tricky and good questionon the surface, i’d say we are open to all applicants and will keep theinterviewing process confidential for everyonebut i must say that if we decided you are the best person for the position,we’d need to figure out how to communicate the situation to our portfoliocompany
Fred, and what if I work for a company that is indirectly associated with USV? I assume you will still maintain confidentiality during the initial process?
Very cool. Jealous. Wish I was a kid I’d apply in a heartbeat, if anything for the exposure to awesome music.
This makes me wish I had started commenting here long ago to gain a bit of a rapport instead of resigning myself to the comfort of ‘lurking.’
Could not resist!
Very excited about this. I’ve been reading this blog for awhile and this looks like a perfect way to get into the business. Looking forward to meeting you. Keep an eye out for my application.
Fred, I hired a new guy last week and I spent all day today interviewing candidates for two other jobs. With my 3 and your 2, we have created the jobs recovery that America is waiting for!Hooray! Hooray! The recovery has begun.Sorry, it’s been a long day.I wonder can we swing an invite to the WH for a beer summit?
That is by far the best post of all this. You sound so happy.
Fred,I’ve applied for the analyst position but I would be thrilled to interview for either role. Thanks for the opportunity.
The USV blog post is a great example of where recruiting is going. At the bottom it says that USV cannot guarantee to get back to everybody. Without an idea of the amount of applications you get, I would contact everyone who made a serious effort to apply. Many of these applicants might not fit the open positions right now, but they could very well be potential CEOs of interesting startups to invest in in the future. People have good memory.
Could this be a sign? Could it be that VCs are starting to ummm, what’s the word I’m looking for….invest?scott cohenRed Tie Media
meet me in the video provided in my application! (includes commentary on the Santonio Holmes trade)
Wow, what an amazing opportunity. I can’t imagine a more fascinating job. Lots to learn, lots to do plus the opportunity to make a real difference for the portfolio. My application is in, my fingers are crossed!
Back in 2006 when you were looking to replace Charlie, your blog post attracted 39 comments with less that number in applicants. Judging by this post and the post on usv.com, you’ll easily have ten times as many applicants. Here’s hoping this shameless post gets my jobscore at least a look :)www.naiel.com / http://www.facebook.com/naiel
Sounds like a great opportunity and it’s right down my alley. I’ll certainly be sending in an application. Excited about both positions in a tech driven wrld.
I just referred this opening to a friend.
