Demo Camp Toronto

Next Wednesday, October 6th, I am spending the day in Toronto. I've been meaning to get up to Toronto to check out the startup scene for a while. Toronto is an hour's flight from NYC and has a lot of interesting startup activity.

I am going to spend the morning meeting with a bunch of startups and entrepreneurs and then from noon to 3pm, I will attend an event called Demo Camp at the Scotiabank Theatre.

I will give a talk, take questions, and then a few companies will demo and then I'll provide feedback on them.

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you AVC readers in Toronto on Wednesday.

Hoser.Nevermind, that skit gone movie was pretty lame.Have a fun trip to Canada

    1. William Mougayar

Hey Mark, that skit is a bit old on the tooth. There are better videos on Canada 🙂

      1. Mark Essel

It was the first cheesy thing on my mind. Darn rusty neural network.

        1. William Mougayar

Ok. We’ll give you a pass on this one bc you’re my friend.

As Fred likes a bit of Hip Hop, here’s a better video, Canada the only Country where the National anthem has a hip hop remix –

          1. Mark Essel

Saved by a good video, thanks Farhan!

          2. Yule Heibel

Nice video – but oh my goodness… talk about “the Great White North,” eh? Everybody (except the beaver) is white! (Canada does actually have a wider mix of ethnic diversity!)Another fun one is the “Canadian, Please” song by gunnarolla, which was re-made in many dormitories across the nation, including my daughter’s – but unfortunately, I have no link for their lip-sync version, so here’s the original:…Enjoy! :-)PS: Knock ’em dead in the T-dot, Fred. Next time you’re at an event in the Pacific Northwest (and if I’m still here), I’ll make sure to attend. I’m still kicking myself over missing your gig in Seattle… :-/

Looking forward to your historic visit here. We kindly asked the organizers of the Toronto International Film Festival to leave us a red carpet behind from their event 2 weeks ago.As the instigator of Fred’s visit to Toronto (and his host, with accomplice David Crow), we’ll also look at this blog for questions that Canadians have for Fred.

    1. Tereza

      That’s like….a venture-themed State Visit!Do you have sufficient security?:-)Enjoy — hope it’s a fantastic event for all.

        1. David Semeria

          I really miss El-Kiddo

        2. Matt A. Myers

I could offer bouncing services but I would just use my OM-ray to obliterate any evil-doers…

        3. Mark Essel

Money needs trumps comment socializing. A lesson in time bankruptcy ala Howard Lindzon.Maybe he’ll return after his financial life converges on what he needs to survive.

          1. fredwilson

the first AVC bouncer was my brother Tedhe also gave up his gig due to economic issues.he got a job and works all the time now

      2. William Mougayar

Lol. We’ve got it covered…Fred will mysteriously appear on stage at the right moment.

    2. Mark Essel

Well played Mr. Mougayar, have a fine weekend as well.

    3. paramendra

My idea of the AVC community. Make things happen offline.

  3. Jevon

Hey, this will be fun. Glad you are coming!

  4. Matt A. Myers

Perhaps I should take a drive to Toronto!

    1. Mark Essel

      How far Matthew?

      1. Matt A. Myers

3 hours. I have a place to stay there downtown, so I’d likely stay overnight and visit a friend or two.I’m a little burned out though so maybe I should rest instead. I’m very bad giving myself a rest.

    2. Jeremy Campbell

Yes you should Matthew, it will be worth your time and travel!

  5. Jonathan Schacter

Fred,I hope you will watch the growing Montreal Startup scene as well.

Is it time for an international startup expo? or doesn’t make sense because the locality matters a lot?

  7. paulhart
