i am getting one too , provided it supports the nexus line 🙂

    1. fredwilson

      I sure hope it does

    2. allenhill212

      provided it supports

    3. jason wright

it ought to, and the new nexus x is being made by Motorola.at motorola.com;”Moto Hint is compatible with any Bluetooth® enabled smartphone so you can get hands-free calling with up to 150 feet of roam range.”

When younger dreamt about having a completely invisible in-ear headset like the secret service use. Did research and tried to see if could be mod’d. Alas only worked with 2-way radios.Covert wearables is the way to go. The Hint isn’t there yet but close. Am still up for one though.Would definitely rather be a hinthole than a glasshole

  3. Carl Rahn Griffith

If I start talking to people on the phone again, I’ll get one 🙂

  4. jason wright

will the 360 notify me when the Hint in my ear has fried my brain and the X in my pocket has frazzled my masculinity?health apps – bring ’em on.

  5. JimHirshfield

Oh, that’s so attractive. Can I get one for my navel?

    1. jason wright

they should just make one that dangles as a nasal septum piercing.

      1. JimHirshfield

I’m concerned that would be too nosey.

        1. LE

8/10 but Joan would want you to try harder on the next one.

          1. JimHirshfield

Joan? Joan know what you’re talkin’ ’bout.

          2. LE

8.5/10 but would be nice if you had an alternate disqus persona so you can segue off the borscht belt and catskills and get into some nastier and more edgy stuff.

Was sad to see that Melissa was a classmate that dated a fraternity brother. I forget her lines when she came in the house, but they were both raunchy and acerbic.

          5. LE

Yep. Penn. Was telling my wife that last night. The outpouring of support for Joan is great .[1] I heard that the the Royals were some of her biggest fans. [2][1] Coverage of Joan in NYpost, NYDN and NBC Nightly news is off the charts. Pays to die a celebrity and be affiliated with NYC in some way. They are all over this one. This is total payback and gratitude for being such a good sport (and NY media connections) and providing the press with so much good material and fodder. She’s been a good “vendor” and “supplier”. I expect Trump will also have a huge sendoff when he departs us. Also pays to “die before your time” in the sense that you die unexpectedly.[2] The reason seems simple. They are the people that are least likely to be able to say what they want because they have so many social constraints and are under a microscope all the time. Likewise many people who would criticize Joan might be secretly jealous of her ability to say whatever she wanted to anytime because it’s her job. I get that when I say something outrageous to a family member that is more buttoned up.

Note to self: if you every post a video, groom first.

      1. JimHirshfield

        Manscaping?

    3. ErikSchwartz

You’d have to turn up the volume really loud.

      1. JimHirshfield

        Abdominal induction… It’s a thing… But sounds like a grumbly tummy.

  6. Yalim K. Gerger

I won’t be surprised if Apple announces something like this on Sep 9th.

    1. William Mougayar

Hmm…I’ll bet you $20 (in bitcoin) that they won’t. If they introduce a new voice feature, it would probably be part of something else, like a watch or band or other wearable.

      1. Yalim K. Gerger

:-). I understand that it is a long shot. So a 1:1 bet would be unfair. I still think it might be huge though. Here is a great post about its potential: http://praxtime.com/2014/03

Am I the only person that doesn’t see a video – just a large blank space? (using chrome)

    1. William Mougayar

No, I had the same issue via my Canadian satellite ISP, then switched to another service I have with Rogers LTE, and it worked. Weird, I don’t know why.

      1. leapy

Thanks William. The video works fine on my phone (through the same wifi) but not my desktop.I do think this is a pretty sexy gadget. 🙂

        1. William Mougayar

It was definitely a Web Acceleration issue. If you can find the settings on your Modem (192.168.0.1 typically), try disabling Web Acceleration, and it might work. (apparently it doesn’t impact anything too much)

    2. William Mougayar

I called my ISP, and it has to do with the web acceleration settings on your modem apparently. Not sure if this helps.

  8. William Mougayar

$149 is not cheap. I’ve just got the latest LG set that goes around your neck, and it supports Google Voice commands when you install the BT reader app on the smartphone.I would be afraid that this device would easily drop out of the ear.

    1. Scott Barnett

I got the LG too, but for some reason it’s disconnecting from my phone when the phone goes out of range. When I come back in range, it doesn’t re-connect. Maybe I have a faulty one? I returned it.

      1. William Mougayar

Funny I was having the same issues, and wasn’t sure if it was the Android or the iPhone. It did that on the Android, but was more solid with the iPhone. Which phone do you have?My biggest complaint was that the earbuds magnets aren’t too strong.@pointsnfigures also has one. Does yours disconnect too?

        1. Scott Barnett

I have an Android – Samsung S4. That could certainly be it then, maybe an Android issue.I didn’t have trouble with the earbuds, but at the same time I wasn’t using it much due to this problem.I am *still* searching for the perfect bluetooth headset. I’m not nearly as excited about this Moto Hint as Fred is, but likely because I just haven’t had success with any headset…

          1. Scott Barnett

Have you used those? The reviews seem to indicate that the earbuds don’t stay in – so given your issues with earbuds, I would think they would be problematic for you?I have used these with decent success, except they have the same “disconnect” problem that the LG does – I actually think the issue may be the phone and not the headsets.http://www.amazon.com/Kiniv…The difference was $25 and pushing a single button to reconnect, vs. with the LG I had to actually unpair and repair the headset!

          2. William Mougayar

I haven’t used them, but saw a friend with them.I’m waiting for the implantable version 🙂

  9. Alex Wolf

It’s so Her. I wonder what the art school versions of this would look like, the more costumey fashion versions. Was just talking about this last night. @briankane have your students had interest in ear pieces at RISD?

  10. diymanik

They might need a “find my hint” feature to keep people from losing it.

    1. Richard

Missing from the clip was just how long it took to recharge. Not sure what’s up with journalists, they too often fail to cover important questions.

      1. diymanik

I think they’re worried about boring the casual tech fan.

    2. ErikSchwartz

If it didn’t turn itself off when you took it out of your ear it would be simple to make a “find my hint” app.

  11. LE

I saw this video yesterday and immediately thought “I’m going to get one of those.”Video doesn’t make me want to get one. All I’m seeing is the following:- fits in the ear- turns on and off when putting in the ear- has a convenient way of charging (what happens you have to carry the charger everywhere?)There are some jawbones that are available w/o over the ear wires and it’s trivial to turn them on and off. That said after writing this maybe I just convinced myself that you have a point.

  12. Scott Barnett

What happened with the LG headset you raved about a few months ago?

    1. fredwilson

i love itbut i think i will love this even more

  13. Richard

The problem with this device is that (most of) the demographic who might use it is the same demographic that will drop it every time they try to put it in or take it out of their ear.

  14. BillMcNeely

Nothing for iPhone? Needs hands free while I drive Uber something better than Bluetooth routed through the car quality

  15. WA

    Done deal. Thanks.

is it sweat proof? would walk around with it in the sun
