Thanks for this! Soundcloud has been making a resurgence in my music listening pattern. Also – this playlist makes me want to digitally archive music that defined the year for me. I’m going to give that a try for 2017. Happy New Year!

The bookends (Bacha Gagoshashvili) are both excellent…didn’t love a lot of the stuff in the middle though…

Also, I’ve been slow on music this year (I guess I was too busy working). Just realized I can connect Soundcloud to my Sonos system now. This makes me so happy!!!

FRED:You are so F’n Kool! (At least your children think so, which is all that matters) Some selections resonate more than others. Couldn’t understand Young Ma, but ooouuu. (Piggybacking off Bobby Shmurda style and Hot Boy beat who by the way is serving seven huge years, hard to recover in the music business on that)(Nothing in the unintellectable bitch, hoe Dirty South category) Traditional Hip Hop usually. MC’s with perspective and something to say. What in the world is Young Thug talking about. Take out DJ Mustard and Mike WILL Made it beats and there is pure terror on the brain.Rae Sremmurd’s The Black Beatles (Mike WILL Made it beat is ridiculous) Can someone teach them how to play an instrument. Please!https://youtu.be/b8m9zhNAgKs——–Can we give Hall & Oates a little love today?Sara Smilehttps://youtu.be/Red3R17FlUQ——-She’s Gonehttps://youtu.be/bnVXIUyshng——–We grew up on this music!!!! Let’s not forget it. The Baby Boomer generation is the best generation ever. No matter how young your children keep you.Eagles, Boston, Billy Joel, Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, The O’Jays, etc.

Indirectly, I thought about Shazam and how great their app is at identifying content. Curious about what people here think about Shazam and areas they should pursue in the future?

  15. Donna Brewington White

“Songs that stayed with me” is intriguing. Look forward to listening.Wonder if there a way to get this onto my Alexa?

Redbone is an incredible song. I love the outcome of Gambino out of his element. Such a special thing happened. Paired with an unbelievable guitar riff. This was on repeat for a week of two when it came out..

  19. Bruce Warila

Really liked the song by Cayetana.. Vocals reminded me of Lucinda Williams. Thanks for posting, and thanks for all of your posts in 2016!

    1. Susan Rubinsky

      Me too!

  20. Tom Labus

Love this post. Lot of great songs. The song by La Sera is great. She has an amazing voice!

  21. William Mougayar

I like this year’s selections better than last year, judging by the number I was able to listen to!

  22. Susan Rubinsky

This song came out in 2015, but I couldn’t stop listening in 2016. (My son is sick of it but still laughs whenever he hears me playing it.) Unfortunately, it’s not on Soundcloud.https://www.youtube.com/wat
