Stocktoberfest East

My friend Howard Lindzon, who I met on this blog something like twelve years ago, runs an annual conference for fintech entrepreneurs and investors called Stocktoberfest.

Yesterday he hit me up on sms and told me they are doing Stocktoberfest East in NYC next week on March 29th and 30th. He asked me if I would do a chat with him. I told him that I’m not that interested in stocks but super interested in digital assets, cryptocurrencies, blockchain, etc. So we are going to do a 30min chat and I’m calling it Cryptoberfest.

My vision for this talk is a completely unprepared and unscripted talk between two old friends about all the amazing things happening in crypto land these days. It should be fun. If you want to attend, you can get a ticket here.

Ticket at $400-$500 seems a bit high to watch two buddies discussing how great they are no?

      1. howardlindzon

        thanks

howardlindzon:We are not weird…. We don’t think.Howard you are a character…..This actually can be a weekly reality show on a cable network.Howard are you opposed to this pitch?Enjoyed the intelligent responses from the 26 year old Asian female. And the Bar owner.

Funny video. FYI, Jamba Juice down roughly 38% since time of 2015 taping.

          1. howardlindzon

            thats why i laughed…

      2. creative group

LE:thanks for the video compliment. howardlindzon can actually be on a weekly cable show with a different name. Producers always want to change the name to maintain control. Stock would different be the base of the shows name. oberfest (Is synonymous with beer)

    1. fredwilson

well i was hoping we’d be discussing how great crypto is. and i don’t generally compliment Howard. i prefer to give him massive shit.

      1. howardlindzon

we shall… this theme is my fave from an old 2013 …putting the pieces of a trend together http://howardlindzon.com/me

    2. howardlindzon

what is fair? the show was sold out before we even asked Fred for the joy of his knowledge share to the financial community. Here is a code for $200 – use fred200

      1. PhilipSugar

I think both are fair, but that is super fair. I’ll see you there.

        1. William Mougayar

          See you there too 🙂

          1. PhilipSugar

      2. andyswan

        1. Mark Essel

I guess they squeeze us in the back. You folks, shove in!

    3. Timothy

I have some tickets I no longer need that I am looking to sell. Please see: https://newyork.craigslist….Thank you.

  2. William Mougayar

I was planning on being there.

    1. howardlindzon

      please do

  3. awaldstein

Gonna miss this but nonetheless, sounds like a good chat and I’ll catch it once you share the stream after a bit.

  4. tgodin

I’ll be there. Everyone’s chance to meet a long-time AVC lurker!

    1. Donna Brewington White

That alone would be worth the ticket. But Mom’s birthday in Illinois beckons. You came out of lurking long enough to say “Feedback. The breakfast of champions.” Has become one of my favorite phrases.

  5. howardlindzon

We have created a special code for friends of Fred’s Blog – use FRED200 or fred200 to get a ticket for $200

Can you ask him about startups like Israeli startups such as DNA.Bits announcing plans back in 2014 to store genetic and medical record data using block chain technology, and what his thoughts are on that and also his thoughts on genetic versions of the blockchain.Current approaches to Blockchain are non-genetic.Thanks.

      1. howardlindzon

ronen from etoro will be in the room who liked bitcoin at $1

        1. Twain Twain

Ok, so also ask if there may be a business model for a risk arbitrage app on blockchain where health data is homomorphically encrypted and traders model whether insurance risks increase/decrease — without knowing the identity of the individual or that of the health provider (maybe only the regional location where the data is from, e.g. NY State).

      1. howardlindzon

        fixed.

        1. creative group

howardlindzon:we are nitpicking but every other speaker has a real best portrait. These are some of the numerous real photos of Fred. This is a professional gathering not a informal podcast. Or are we mistaken? Again we are nitpicking and Fred good natured personality wouldn’t question it either way. If other Speakers had emoji/paintings we would understand. What we located might not be Fred’s best but nothing could make that mug look better (Actually hoped he laughed) but they beat what you currently have up there. And we realize you were fixing something that was overlooked. https://uploads.disquscdn.chttps://uploads.disquscdn.chttps://uploads.disquscdn.chttps://uploads.disquscdn.chttps://uploads.disquscdn.c

That’s a deal. Wish I was closer geographically so that I could capitalized.Surprised you didn’t get a Spring themed name on it.

    4. karen_e

Reading up on Stocktoberfest East speakers, and specifically looking for articles about the blockchain written by and about women, I found a good interview between your speaker Meltem Demirors and IBM’s Kathryn Harrison: https://medium.com/@Melt_De…. Enjoy!

  6. jason wright

Toktobervest West.East? Don’t get it. Lost your bearings?

  7. Matthew Weeks

sounds like a great event and a fun talk. For those of us out here on the Left Coast maybe we could listen-in via stream. Howard can geo-code us to avoid forfeiting local attendance. Alternative I suppose is waiting a few weeks. 🙂 But listening in via stream would engage more of us in the immediate conversations across the community and moreover across the country/world. Just a thought.

    1. howardlindzon

there will be video, i doubt livestream unless an attendee attempts it.

      1. Matthew Weeks

sounds good. looking forward to it. Thx

      2. jschless

Hey Howard – wondering if video of this ever was posted.Wish I could’ve attended and hope the event was a success.thanksJake

      1. pointsnfigures

We have similar backgrounds, some stuff in common, biggest exception our bank accounts.

  9. fredwilson

it’s not digital and i already own too much of it. diversification is best in all things financial.

    1. andyswan

      1. I could spend a year without touching a piece of US currency and live very well VERY digital!2. You are living proof that the diversification myth is nonsense!

      1. kidmercury

wanted to jump into the portion of this beef re: diversification. it is sort of nonsense in that pretty much every massively wealthy person got that way through a concentrated position — whether it is alex rodriguez betting his life on baseball or jeff bezos betting it all on amazon. however diversification can provide certain benefits to conservative wealth management and staying wealthy.so i have to call this beef a draw.

        1. andyswan

          Fair

    2. Donna Brewington White

“I already own too much of it”I can’t stop laughing.

  10. howardlindzon

raise the roof…andy will possibly be accepting the trump trade chart of the year!

    1. andyswan

      Never a doubt

  11. Mark Essel

Oh man, I want to go. But I have no idea why.

    1. Donna Brewington White

      :)))

  12. rossgarlick

“hit me up on sms”. I think Fred chose to phrase it like that to hint to Howard he prefers Kik or Signal 😉

  13. Timothy

I have some tickets I no longer need that I am looking to sell. Please see: https://newyork.craigslist…..Thank you.
