Subscribing To AVC Via Email

About a month ago I put all of AVC traffic behind “https.”

This is something you can do with one click of a button if you are behind Cloudflare, as AVC is.

I should have done this a long time ago, but only got around to doing it last month.

In the process, I broke the subscribe via email feature and only fixed it this morning.

So, this is as good of a time as any to mention that you can get this blog delivered via email every morning.

You can subscribe via email (or RSS if you prefer that) here.

That’s how I consume your blog every day. It works well for me as I rarely comment; but if I want to leave a comment, then I have go to to the site. Otherwise, it ensures I never miss a beat.

Still a sad thing for the web that Google did so well at centralizing RSS before killing it :(.

Is there not an equivalent alternative?

I have 300 or so RSS feeds, but since I started using Nuzzel (the app) with Twitter, I almost solely rely on this for surfacing great posts, and I used to be a Twitter nonbeliever.

Matt Zagaja:That is another app that people attach to their productivity routine to have Google retire it.The Google developers can’t be using the app they develop or they wouldn’t retire the app for totally different app that omit some of the best features in the app’s they replace.1. FYI, i’m still seeing something funky going on with your SSL implementation. https is working, http redirects to https, but both chrome and brave show your site as insecure in the URL window. maybe certificate is expired or not configured properly?

why did you put it behind https?

  6. Ryan Miller

Hey Fred – Saw @kidmercury’s comment above (about Chrome and Brave still showing the site as insecure) and thought I’d point out that you’re still loading a few assets via HTTP, which results in what’s called “mixed content” and a variety of warnings in modern browsers. Attached is a screenshot of the specific warnings. Thankfully the fix is as simple as switching those assets to HTTPS, given that the various hosts support the protocol.Hope this is of help and thanks for creating AVC! Yes and no. It’s a CF. For example how the cloudflare ‘ssl’ <– Note the quotes handles links to content that isn’t https. One example looking at the code is tokensummit.com which isn’t SSL https://tokensummit.com/ (no such thing)Fred could change all the links to https (which actually cloudflare should do on the fly I would think) but if there is no cert there then it will be broken.Ideally what Cloudflare could do is send a helpful email to anyone using the service (this is what I call acceptable marketing spam btw I think everyone should be doing a version of this) explaining what is going on and pointing out solutions…. https://uploads.disquscdn.chttps://uploads.disquscdn.c

Cloudflare is amazing! I have all our sites on it, and the easiest way (without breaking anything on the site was using the wordpress plugin “CloudFlare Flexible SSL” and following the instructions -> https://www.icontrolwp.com/
