Funding Friday: Chiptunes

This is the kind of Kickstarter project I really like. Small, offbeat, and totally awesome. I just backed it this morning.

“These limitations allow me to become creative.”The project is a fantastic example of the power of limitations. Love it.

Is this an example of digital rejectionism, or just nostalgia, or a bit of both?Hiptunes.I read that Hudson Yards received financial incentives from NYC greater than those proposed for Amazon HQ2. Still a real estate town.…┬žion=Art%20%20Design…P.S. HY is ugly. Nassim Taleb is right about modern architecture and financial capitalism. Stephen Ross talks about creating a self contained ‘community’. The architecture of his project is the exact opposite. Only the ‘bee hive’ has any redeeming qualities, but it’s just a massive interactive sculpture. There’s no practical community utility in it. It’s an attempt at distracting us from the hideousness of financial architecture.

Cool. Miss the nerdy Amiga Scene from the 80s and 90s. 8-bit 4-channel chiptunes put into 4K demos (shown before the game was being loaded – often password cracked and with trainers giving you unlimited life in the games). These chiptunes where often composed using trackers like NoiseTracker and later ProTracker.

another small, offbeat, and totally awesome worth funding on funding friday is the 9/11 grand jury investigation project, which already has secured a federal prosecutor and grand jury to investigate the crimes of 9/11 in new york and determine if indictments can be authorized. the lawyers’ committee for 9/11 recently filed a document citing 15 people with information material to the 9/11 crimes that the grand jury should consider. the lawyers’ committee is considering filing a motion requiring the prosecutor to present this information to the grand jury if the prosecutor continues to ignore requests for status updates regarding how the grand jury is proceeding.donate here:

Important side note: I didn’t know who Neutral Milk Hotel was before 2012 and I am a big music fan (not necessarily of this type of music however). Go listen to this album, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. Some hate it. It grew to be one of my favorite all time albums. Possibly my #1, it’s that great.
