Video Of The Week In Two Parts
This past week Laura Shin did an interview with Vitalik Buterin, the founder of the Ethereum project. I am going to run a video of that conversation next week.
Laura started her interview with Vitalik by playing for him and everyone else in the room a bit of this conversation Tushar Jain and I had last fall.
So I am reblogging this conversation so it is fresh in everyone’s minds when I run Laura’s Vitalik interview next week.

Laura did an podcast with Multicoin last week. That episode was all about Binance Coin. I’m really interested in BNB and their validator/staking nodes as part of their Dex. As a US Citizen, should I be concerned about ownig in BNB?
I’m not sure we need to re-drill on that point. The apparent lack of progress is a perception on those that aren’t too closely associated with the project, or those who want to attack it because they have interests in other projects. When you’re a leader, everybody attacks you. It’s par for the course. That said, Ethereum’s lead is real and undisturbed. It is still the most diversified blockchain in terms of innovative projects being built on it. It is the most inclusive project (anyone can participate). It boasts the largest ecosystem community among any other blockchain project by orders of magnitude. Actually, a recent Electric Capital report specifically pinpointed this lead with the numbers behind it. Ethereum has the largest number of developers and code commits than any other blockchain. Here’s the report: https://static1.squarespace…https://uploads.disquscdn.c…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi…A very few people were critical to its success. Ethereum will need people like this if it is going to succeed. Who are they?
AVC prediction numbe 1, “I believe that we will have a different President of the United States by the end of 2019. The catalyst for this change will be a devastating report issued by Robert Mueller that outlines a history of illegal activities by our President going back decades, including in his campaign for President.”I still scratch my head as how smart people can be draw such poor conclusions from such simple data.PS Kara Swisher is an example of failure. A journalist without eyes, a journalist without ears – leaves a journalist only with a mouth. Sad day.
I’ve never understood the point of making public predictions.
It’s failure to check on one’s cognitive biases that is the problem. Fred predictions are more or less his hope and desires each year. Maybe he will title it appropriately next year.
In the Multicoin interview Fred acknowledges that USV’s crypto investment strategy is designed to account for the impossibility of correct future predictions about how the space will evolve.
When next week please, and why not now?
Thanks!I haven’t listened to the Laura’s interview as yet so will relisten to this one first.I’m a fan of her approach.
https://unchainedpodcast.co…This interview puts Ethereum in its place, and is a bit of a hard listen for ETH holders.n.b. EOS dumped 72% of its ETH.
I disagree. For open source projects, the number of active developers commiting code is a very important metric. And if we take your larger circle of users on apps, Ethereum also is on top, total number of Apps and app developers is another significant metric.
You are very misinformed about the scope of Ethereum. Why do you have to attack it that way? It doesn’t help your credibility.
