Funding Friday: Vacuum Tube Speakers

I love when old meets new. And so when I saw this project this morning, I backed it immediately.

Reminds me of the enduring home speaker company McIntosh, who still sell a great hi-end product, differentiated partly by their use of some retro but still-superior tech.Company also notable as giving a legal trademark hurdle to Apple, just after the Beatles Apple Corps also did: https://www.soundandvision….

Too cool.Makes me think of my very first hire for developer relations at Creative–18 year old kid working at a guitar store, living with his parents obsessed with old amps.Went on to some fame, did many of the Guitar Hero riffs.Still obsessed with old amps.Cool guy.http://www.steveouimette.co

Very cool project. But thank you for the transistor. Perhaps the most impactful invention of the 20th century.

1:10 – 1:25. Is this where i fold and just hand over my money?Nostalgia, that yearning for a past that may never have been. The future!

On a housebound rainy Saturday a few years back, we cleaned out the closet in the basement. Drag out the family heirloom vacuum tube Siemens radio. Clean it. Power it up. Plays like a champ.https://uploads.disquscdn.c

Just bought a new system. Went big gulp large. Friends and fam think I’m nuts. Re-discovering my vinyl too. Haven’t pissed off my neighbors yet, but it’s coming 🙂

Building that dev group was one of the pleasures of my career.Guitar players, video graphics geeks, and a few from the midi side, So young and talented.Got them passports and they spent 4 years traveling the globe signing up 2800 game studios with their fingerprints on everything from Doom to Carmen SanDiego to–every game and app with sound everywhere. When we went public, watching them move out of their parents basements, buy their own houses, cars, guitars, start families and other businesses was to this day, why I love the entrepreneurial life.
