But seriously,I always use these milestones we call birthdays to take measure of my life. And so far so good.
I’ve got a lot to be thankful for to be honest. My wife, my kids, my family, the greatest job I could ever have, wonderful colleagues, terrific companies to work with, a vibrant community that I get to be the moderator of.
So I’ll count my blessings today, work a bit, take advantage of being in long island with my family a bit, and generally celebrate mid life.
If you are in the mood for a bit of eye candy this morning, check out this flickr account. It’s by Pink Cake Box and they also have a blog with recipes. Wow.
Happy Birthday, Fred!

Happy Happy One Fred!
Happy Birthday Fred, enjoy, relax and have fun. Hope to keep gaining valuable insights on all topics from you in the coming year.
Happy birthday to you and me. It’s my birthday too! 🙂
Happy Birthday Fred. You have the same birthday as my brother.
Enjoy your day sir!
Congratulations! I thought I saw a new wrinkle there.
As a Canadian, you are still a smidge over 44 to me. If it wasn’t for Bush’s monetary policy you would still be in the 30’s.Tough year.Hope the next is better 🙂
Fred-Happy Birthday. An expensive year to be buying birth year wines!
You’re still a young ‘un..Happy Birthday,michael
Here’s a happy-birthday thought: I’m 47, and I’m finding the whole “midlife crisis” thing overblown. The people I know between 40 and, say, 55 are at their absolute peak – just the right mix of seasoned judgment and experience, with still-young-enough bodies and minds; and a real readiness to accept change and even make change (whereas the under-40s often seem, to me, more eager to fit in than to make stuff happen). There’s a supposed cult of youth, but that seems merely visual. If you see The Bourne Ultimatum, you’ll see this in action — Julia Stiles is perfectly nice, sure, but mostly because she has a chance to grow up to be Joan Allen! Many happy returns of the day.
Happy B-Day Fred!! Best wishes!
Last night I had a dream I was singing “Happy Birthday” in Hebrew, so maybe it is a sign?Yom Holedet Sameach!Yom Holedet Sameach!Yom Holedet Sameach!Yom Holedet Sameach!veh harbeh yoter
Happy Birthday! I’m one week behind you for the 46th, and know how you feel about being a slacker, I echo that thought at times.
Many many returns of the day Fred. Wish you to see you in the midas list soon.
Happy Birthday! FYI – my wife and my older brother both share the same birthday as you.
Take some time off from your blog and enjoy your birthday… We’ll wait for you to come back 😀
Happy Birthday Fred, once you get past the mid point, all those slacker fears dissipate [or accumulate into slacker realities 🙂 ]Have a blast today
Is that really a pic of your cake?It looks very similar to our wedding cake…from about 10 years ago! we always called it the “Mad Hatter” cake. Loved it. Carrot cake with caramel was our flavor of choice.
Happy Belated Birthday!
